The New World
The previous Queen of Albion, she was almost universally beloved, having elevated the country from a poor nation dependent on strong allies, to a powerful kingdom with a strong navy and many rich overseas interests.
Tragically, her turbulent reign left little time for personal affairs, and she died childless in 1598, allowing King Hamish I to take the throne. Although Elspeth was technically an Ecclesiarch, she was a moderate who allowed discrete religious freedom under her rule, whereas Hamish’s piousness borders on the fanatical, and he brooks no religious dissent.
Elspeth is our analogue of Elizabeth I.
